Accident insurance

Accidents are always waiting round the corner – in road traffic, at leisure and at work – sport.

Insurance protection is a legal requirement for may in particular situations, including at the workplace. Private accident insurance can fill gaps in existing insurance cover. However, particular care is necessary to ensure that other insurances are not considered to overlap so that their payments are deducted.

The elements covered by the policy can be chosen at will so that every insurer is able to offer an individual package. Components in the cover include Invalidity, Accident-Death, Daily payments, Hospital "day money" or Convalescence money

The insurances that we propose provide world-wide cover, round the clock (24 hour policies) and pay out if the person insured “suffers any permanent loss of physical or mental capability as the result of an accident”. The accident statistics show the extent to which accident cover can be a sensible and worthwhile complement to the accident cover provided through the professional mutual societies. Accidents happen anywhere and at any time. Most pass off without any major consequences, however, the victim is sometimes so seriously injured that he is temporarily, or even permanently, unable to pursue his professional or customary leisure activities. Serious health, income, livelihood, psychological and social problems can be the consequences. Private and business accident insurance can provide a buffer against loss of income and quality of life and finance building modifications or setting up a new business. The policy is also important for freelancers for whom a professional disability policy does not come into question or is expensive because of a high risk of invalidity. An accident is considered to have occurred if the person insured suffers damage to his health through the action on his body of an abrupt external event (the accidental event) (§ 1 III AUB 88/figure 1.3 AUB 99/2000).
